About Eric (Schoon-der-gang)
Starting out with a Brownie 120 TLR camera in the mid 70’s, Eric Schoondergang has enjoyed an on again, off again love affair with photography for most of his life.
In the mid 80’s, he attended a Photographic Technology program at North Harris County College, where he worked as a photo-lab technician. It was during this time that he discovered the work of Brett Weston and Jerry Uelsmann. Both still serve as his main sources of inspiration.
The acquisition of Photoshop to support product photography for a family owned business in the early 2000’s fused his interests in digital graphics and photography. In 2011, seeking a way to manipulate perspective and lighting for photo-montage, he discovered 3D software and photo-realistic rendering which is just beginning to be regularly included in his work.
Eric has worked as a digital graphics technician, photo-lab technician, architectural photographer, product photographer and a corporate contract photographer. While his business photography is digital, he still enjoys shooting film with a Mamiya 6×7 and a Sinar 4×5. He lives in New Braunfels with Lynn, his (very supportive) wife of 24 years and their 3 dogs: Joy, Izzy and Jed.
