Learning About Cyanotypes

dorrae stevens cyanotypeWe hope you join us at our next photo club meeting on St. Patrick’s Day, Thursday, March 17th at 7:00 pm. Come a little early if you want to visit with your friends, and find your name tag.

We have a great program for you!

Our guest, DorRae Stevens, will introduce you to an alternative method of photography called Cyanotype, a photographic printing process that produces a cyan-blue print. This procedure can also be used on fabric, as she will share with you.  Come join us in learning something new!

DorRae Stevens,  lives and works in Dripping Springs and the Austin/Hill Country area. Her work spans from portraits to documentary, art, and commercial clients. Her work is often seen at the A Smith Gallery in Johnson City. Although most of her work has been digital she is spending more time these days with alternative processes and the B&W darkroom.

You may use the same images from last month, but please re-send them so we don’t show images if you are not going to be at this month’s meeting.

Big Bend Night Sky by Jørgen Høg

Participants will join in fun citizen science activities, learn from engaging speakers and exhibits, see examples of good lighting for their home or business, view school projects and competition entries focused on protecting the night sky, feast at the food trucks, take home a book or work of art inspired by the night sky, earn a related scouting badge, or explore the stars.

The Hill Country Photography Club and the Photographers of Dripping Springs are co-sponsoring a Photography Contest. We will be showing an exhibition of the images selected by Andy Heatwole. We will also be announcing the award winners.
