Please join us Thursday, November 16th, 7:00 pm, at First Lutheran Church  for our next meeting.

7:00 – Welcome and Member News

7:25 – Program: Ins and Outs of Astrophotography: A Short Introduction with Darrell Carder

Program:  Ins and Outs of Astrophotography: A Short Introduction

About Darrell:

“My photography journey started when watching my Dad taking pictures. The process of measuring the light with a light meter and determining the correct settings amazed me. As I grew older, I was allowed to use the light meter and his Canon camera to take my own pictures. After graduating from college and starting work I bought my first camera, a Pentax K1000. For many years I would describe my photography as ‘drive by shooting’. It seemed that I was always holding up the rest of the group trying to get a good composition and having to hurry through it.

Working for Motorola Semiconductors as an electrical engineer gave me an opportunity to take the family to Israel for 4 months for work.  I then bought a Nikon FE2 SLR and I’ve stayed with Nikon since then with my latest being the D850.

Over the last 5 or so years I’ve been able to focus and learn more on composition and my family has learned to accept my photo op adventures.

I’ve always been intrigued looking at the night sky. A discussion with a co-worker on photography, and seeing some star trail pictures he took, got me started on astrophotography. While doing some searching on the web, I came across Richard Tatti’s Nightscape Images on YouTube and started following some of his tutorials. Between different YouTube tutorials and lots of Trial and error I’ve developed my own form of nightscape photography.“

Member Photo Share:  Theme this month is Sun Shots

“If you pointed a camera at the sun on October 14th, this topic is for you. If you didn’t, there are a lot of photographic moments when the sun plays a critical role: rainbows, shadows, moonlight, sunsets and sunrises. So work up those eclipse shots or scour your files for images that really “shine”. – Bill Galloway

Please name your 2  images as follows:  1FirstName_LastName.jpg, 2FirstName_Last Name.jpg. No need to resize – just make sure it is a jpeg file. Send them by email to photos@jerrysargent.com by November 14th to insure they will be shown at the meeting.(Note: As always, if you prefer to submit something other than the theme topic, you may do so.)
